Simone Cristicchi, a poet

Great artist.

I really love the way he intends to be an artist.

I clearly remember the first time I heard his most famous song “ti regalerò una rosa”, winner at the Sanremo Festival 2007. In front of my TV, completely captured by the intensity of the song, the words, the simple music. Pure Poetry

Then I started to listen to his music and It confirmed my impressions, Great.

Last week I went to the Auditorium, in Rome, to take some photographs at the Roma Rock Festival, I knew he was there, as the main guest at the end of the gig. It was late, after a three hours show, but the time wasn’t waisted…

4 songs, only with a guitar, but I had the same impressions I kept in my mind, the fist time I heard him, poetry, pure.

Biography

In march 2007, Simone won the 57th edition of the Sanremo Festival. His song “Ti regalerò una rosa” won due to extremley high marks received from the festival staff (96/100) and popular vote. The lyrics to the song are taken from papers he found that were written by a man who was in a mental hospital for most of his life. It is a sad tale of the man’s struggle with being away from the woman he loves and being exiled for being mentally ill. The song has so far reached number 3 on the official Italian charts and number 1 one the official downloads chart going to became Cristicchi’s most successful song to date in the country.
